CD NEW RELEASES 2016

2016 will be an important landmark in our career, as we shall be celebrating 30 years of working together and concertizing as a duo. To mark the occasion, we are releasing some archive recordings taken from live concert performances. We hope the very spontaneousness captured in front of a live audience outshines the odd cough and wrong note that have inevitably slipped in.

ALL MOZART
To be released in June 2016 an all-Mozart CD incorporating his fine concerto for 2 pianos and orchestra K.365, the virtuoso 2 piano sonata K.448 and a real gem written for duet, the sonata K.521.

MILHAUD & CHABRIER
Due for release in June 2016 a 2-piano CD devoted to 2 Frenchmen Chabrier & Milhaud. Le Boeuf sur le Toit is a bundle of fun to listen to. Milhaud’s skillful reworking of Brazilian popular melodies around an original recurring theme is masterfully conceived for piano duet. His not so well known Le Bal Martiniquais and rarely heard Ballade Op.61 will be a revelation for many Milhaud fans. We have included Scaramouche for good measure! Chabrier’s Trois Valses Romantiques are superbly crafted for 2 pianos as is of course his celebrated España, colorful and dazzling with its Malagueñas and enchanting melodies.

ALL 2 PIANOS 1930-1940
An extraordinarily varied all 2 piano program comprising works interestingly all written, transcribed or arranged between 1930-1940: Copland’s El Salon Mexico, Gershwin’s Cuban Overture, Britten’s Introduction and Rondo Alla Burlesca, Turina’s Rapsodía Sinfonica, Villa-Lobos’s Bachianas Brazileiras No.3, Ethel Bartlett’s The Elizabethan Suite. The only exception being Bax’s Irish Tone-poem Moy Mell written some years earlier. Due for release: July 2016

THE ENCORE COLLECTION
We thought it would be fun to put together on CD our own collection of favorite encores that have brought our recitals to a close over the decades.   Couperin’s Allemande and Benjamin’s Jamaican Rumba, Brahms’s Hungarian Dances and the Peanut VendorHome Sweet Home and Stravinsky’s Tango, Poulenc’s Capriccio and Ravel’s Habanera, Debussy’s Petite Suite and Moszkowski’s Italy, Lionel Sainsbury’s Fiesta, the Finale from Joseph Horowitz’s Concerto for Dancers, delights from Ladmirault, Fauré  and Rachmaninov are some of those present. Due for release: July 2016
